In last years isotopic methods have started to shed new light on past human mobility and dietary habits in the area of today’s northern Poland. However, their validity is still limited because of a low number of analysed individuals and baseline samples.

In his paper, Łukasz Pospieszny going to make a short introduction to the state of research in Polish prehistoric archaeology and present the most significant examples of case studies. They are devoted to selected, relatively well preserved single graves and cemeteries from the later Neolithic and beginning of the Early Bronze Age, representing mainly Corded Ware and Bell Beakers. Applications of isotopic analyses using strontium (87Sr/86Sr), carbon (δ13C) and nitrogen (δ15N) will be discussed, along with problems of freshwater reservoir effect and its influence on radiocarbon (14C) dating.
